Gloriana González from the Department of Curriculum & Instruction will join the group to discuss "Teaching with Dynamic Geometry: Is There Something New for Students to Learn?" this week.


Debra Woods will join the group to discuss, "Calculus with and without Mathematica: Some questions about student thinking."


The group will reminisce about Jerry Uhl, Professor Emeritus of Mathematics at the University and developer of Wolfram's Calculus & Mathematica, and his significant contributions to the field of mathematics.


We will be having an open discussion and will also have math problems available to work on.


Join us for our MSTE Friday Lunch with presenter, Dr. John Gardner (from Oregon State University) on accessible math and graphics.

Dr. John Gardner will also be giving presentations on campus Wednesday and Thursday this week.  It may be helpful to attend some of his other presentations so you can come to the Friday Lunch with questions for Dr. Gardner.  Of course, if you are unable to attend any of his other presentations, you are still welcome to join us for Friday Lunch; we just want to make sure everyone knows about his other presentations.

Elena Railean, visiting from the Republic of Moldova, will present a new didactical model with core dynamic and flexible educational strategies. She will present electronic textbooks for mathematics and chemistry (at the K-12 level) and informatics (at the University-level).


Join us for our MSTE Friday Lunch with Peter Braunfeld as he talks about  numerals. What do the ordinary English names for numbers like one, two, three, hundred, thousand, etc. (and those of other languages) reveal about the history of our understanding of numbers? 


Join MSTE,the Office of Math, Science, and Technology for Education, for the Friday Lunch series. Randy McCarthy will lead an informal discussion on preparation for college mathematics.
