A Whirlwind Journey from Classroom AP Statistics to Corporate Data Scientist via Coursera

A couple of weeks before preparing his students for the May 2014 Advanced Placement Statistics test, Lucas Allen read about the Johns Hopkins Data Science Specialization on Coursera. Despite never having taken a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) previously, he immediately signed up for the 10 course sequence, devoting all of his summer break to it. Lucas will share about his experience immersing himself in MOOCs and the rapid career change that followed, ultimately landing him in a data scientist role at a Fortune 50 company just 6 months after he signed up for his first class on Coursera.
