Field Trip to Staerkel Planetarium

This week we will be taking a MSTE Friday Lunch field trip to the William M. Staerkel Planetarium at Parkland College! The Planetarium has recently undergone some major upgrades, including installation of the Digistar 4 full-dome system from Evans & Sutherland. On February 25th, MSTE Friday Lunchers will be treated to a special presentation with Dave Leake (of Parkland College) of "Secrets of the Sun" on the full dome.

Dr. John Gardner will also be giving presentations on campus Wednesday and Thursday this week. It may be helpful to attend some of his other presentations so you can come to the Friday Lunch with questions for Dr. Gardner. Join us for our MSTE Friday Lunch this week with Bill Hammack, the Engineer Guy. He will talk about his 2nd and 3rd series of EngineerGuy videos. He'll update the talk he gave at the CITES Brown Bag - looking into the question do YouTube viewers like silly or series videos? He'll talk only a little about production, focusing more on how the videos can be used to support supplemental educational material and also how to monetize the videos so they can be self-funding.
