Talk Description:

Unfortunately, Dr. McKnight is unable to make the trip to Champaign at this time, so the October 26th MSTE Friday Lunch has been cancelled. We hope to reschedule in the spring.

Dr. McKnight will discuss the evolution of international comparative mathematics studies, starting with the first study led by the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA) and continuing through the Second International Mathematics Study (SIMS) in the 1980s and then the Third International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) in the 1990s, followed by their institutionalization and subsequent decline.

Dr. Kenneth J. Travers, United States Director for the SIMS, will also be in attendance for the discussion.
